Talking therapy · in person & online · Bristol

A quiet hour that's actually yours.

Clearing is a small therapy practice — three therapists, two calm rooms, no waiting-room fish tank. People come with anxiety, grief, stuck patterns, or just a sense that something needs saying out loud. All of those are the right reason.

How it works

What actually happens.

Therapy is less mysterious than its reputation. Here's the shape of it, honestly described.

  1. The first conversation

Twenty minutes, free, no couch. You say what's bringing you; we say honestly whether we're the right fit — and refer you kindly if we're not.

  2. The early sessions

Weeks one to four are mostly you talking and being properly heard, possibly for the first time in a while. It's simpler than you feared and harder than it sounds.

  3. The middle

The patterns show up — they always do — and the work becomes gently naming them. Some sessions feel like weather. You keep coming. It keeps working.

  4. The review

Every six sessions we ask out loud: is this helping? Therapy shouldn't drift on politeness. Sometimes the answer is 'we're done', and that's a good day.

What we work with

The ordinary heavy things.

Anxiety that hums under everything. Grief, recent or twenty years old. Burnout wearing a competence costume. Relationships that repeat. The low fog that doesn't have a dramatic name but takes the colour out of weeks.

We work integratively — mostly talking, sometimes tools, always at your pace. No jargon unless you ask for it, and even then, in moderation.

3 Therapists, all accredited, all in ongoing supervision
6 Sessions between honest reviews

Plain numbers.

What clients say

I rehearsed my first session in the car like a job interview. Ten minutes in I understood there was no exam. Eighteen months later I graduated, her word, and cried in a nice way.
AnonymousFinished, well
The six-session review felt radical. A professional asking 'is this actually helping?' and meaning it. It was. I said so. We kept going.
R., 34Year one
I took the concession rate during a thin winter and was treated identically. That dignity was, itself, therapeutic.
