Hand-poured in small batches
Ember & Wick pours candles the patient way — blended in litres, not tanks, cured for a fortnight, and burn-tested in the shop window where anyone can check.
The pour
Pour soy wax two degrees too hot and it cracks as it sets; too cold and the scent never binds. Factories solve this with additives. We solve it with a thermometer, a slow afternoon and the stubbornness to re-melt anything that isn't right.
Every batch is twelve candles. Every candle gets a batch number, a pour date, and a fortnight on the curing shelf before it's allowed near the till.
From wax to wick
The whole craft is temperature and patience. These are the numbers on the workshop wall.
Soy flakes go down slowly in the double boiler. Rushing this is how factories are born.
Oils bind at exactly this window — hotter burns them off, cooler leaves them sitting on top like regret.
Into the vessel in one patient stream, wick held plumb by a wooden peg our neighbour the joiner makes.
Two weeks on the shelf while wax and scent finish their argument. The wait is the recipe.
The shelf
Every scent is layered to change as it burns — the first hour is not the third. Refills for any vessel we've sold, always.

A candle is a fireplace you can afford in a rental.
The Saturday pour
Every Saturday the workshop table clears for eight people, eight vessels and a long morning of melting, blending and pouring your own candle — scent built from our oil wall, mistakes re-melted for free, coffee included.
You leave with a candle that has your name on the batch label and instructions to wait two weeks. Nobody waits two weeks. We understand.
From the shelf
I bought Hearth in November 'as a gift'. It never left my flat and I'm not sorry. The refill system is dangerously convenient.
Did the Saturday pour for my mother's birthday. She cried, then made us light it immediately. The two-week rule is a myth in our family now.
You can smell when it's a real shop the second you walk in. This is a real shop.
Book
Eight seats every Saturday. Morning pours run 10–12, afternoon 14–16 — both end with coffee while the wax sets.
Visitors pick a date and time here, then leave their details.
The shop
Rua das Flores, the small window that glows after dusk — that's the burn test, and it doubles as our only advertising.
