A coached running club · Manchester
Start slow. Finish fast.
Negative Split is a running club built around one idea: the second half of your race should be quicker than the first. Three coached sessions a week, pace groups instead of egos, and a Saturday track morning that will rebuild your relationship with 400 metres.
The road
From 5K to the marathon.
Most people arrive with a 5K and a suspicion they could do more. The club's whole structure is that suspicion, taken seriously.
-
The base
Eight weeks of easy miles and one hard truth: most runners run their easy days too fast. Fixing that is the club's first gift to you.
-
The step up
Tempo work begins. You'll learn what 'comfortably hard' means and stop sprinting the first kilometre of everything, including life.
-
The half
Long-run Sundays with the group and the flapjack stop that has achieved local legend status. The distance stops being scary somewhere around week four.
-
The whole thing
Sixteen weeks, a printed plan, a coach who knows your knees by name — and a finish line where the second half was faster. That's the club motto, kept.
Pace groups
Run with your people.
Every session runs in three groups. Nobody gets dropped — the group regroups at every corner, by rule.
The 5:00s — the big group, the good chat
The 4:30s — quieter up here, mostly breathing
Club numbers
Counted in kilometres.
The second half, faster.
Membership
Three ways to run.
Every membership starts with a free first run — see the Saturday track morning before you commit to loving it.

From the pack
Said mid-run, mostly
Joined for fitness, stayed for the 5:00 group's chat. Accidentally ran a half marathon in the process. They insist this is normal.
The coach clocked my knee niggle from thirty metres and changed my plan that evening. My physio asked who these people were.
I was terrified of being last. The rule is the group regroups at every corner — nobody has ever been left. I checked. I was the test case.

The first one's free.
